Caddy Coupe Deville

My friends Deville has a starting problem. It never did this before. It has a bosch battery about 5 months old. The engine spins once and pauses then slowly starts spinning again and starts. But when he shut it off and tried it again it would start instantly and if he let it sit for a few seconds and tried it again it would have problems. Anyone have any ideas what it could be. I'm thinking alternator or starter.

That sounds like a starter problem. Is it the original?

Yes it's original. The year is '91.

Sounds like a bad starter pulling too many amps. Get a starter draw test done.
