Stripped Oil Drain Plug, help?

Okay, so I didn't see anything on the first page for this and this is kind a big problem so I need some help. I have either stripped or cross threaded by oil drain plug and I need to know how I could fix it without removing the engine and just replacing the oil pan. My father said that auto part stores have something that could help in this situation but I couldn't remember what it is. So any suggestion? Ideas? Know what he is talking about? Or am I just royally screwed?

Re: Stripped Oil Drain Plug, help?

I think they make a self taping drain plug. You just screw it in and it makes new threads.

Re: Stripped Oil Drain Plug, help?

id say drill a hold 1/16" bigger, retap the hole, and buy a bigger screw... although it might be hard to find a bigger one thats made for an oil pan... they have little magnets on the tip to keep tiny metal thread shavings from entering the oil
