|
my ac system is not cold enough
i was going to put another can of r134a in but there is some r134a still in the system that is very old. is it ok just to let it out by pushing the stem valve open. Or is that a nono? |

thats illegal.. only if someone catches you... before you go throwing cans of R134a into your car, hook it up to gauges to see if your operating within the correct pressure, if you are, then see if your condenser is clooged (with bugs, dirt, oil, etc.) that will cause a warmer ac temp.

ok, so how do i legally discharge the system if i want to recharge it? The condensor looks fine

Take it to a shop and tell them you need it discharged.

if youre bringing it to a shop to have it discharges... you may as well have them recharge it too.... that way its done right. and to really see if the condensor is fine, shine a light through the back and try and see if you can see it all the way through... if not, its clogged, and while the AC is on, feel the front of it, if it has hot and cold spots then it internally clogged.
