Unhappy slow 3.8 V6

I have an 89 Cougar LS. I bought the car like a year and a half ago. When I got the car it was slow off the line and still is. You step on the gas and it takes like 30 seconds for the motor to get up to speed. Would it be dirty injectors? Can I adjust the throttle cable at all? It has new plugs, wires, rotor and cap. It also has a newer but not brand new Tras in it. If anyone has any thing I can try let me know. Thanks

I haven't done any work on the motor or anything except for putting in a new trans. I plan to put duel exhaust on it some day soon. first i have to fix it though, because someone hit me and took off my whole front end. It's almost all toghther again, i have to get just a couple of more little things for it, then get it painted.

check the fuel pressure, timing, and buy some bg44 for it i can send you some if u pay for it. not saying the bg will fix all of the problems but you will be able to tell a remarcable diff. bg is a fuel induction system cleaner, and it has a fuel additive you put in your gas tank. you would need to find someone to put it in for you. it takes a special tool. good luck keep me posted.:smoker2:

I checked fuel pressure and it is good. I've tried some different fuel system cleaners and they really don't seem to make a difference at all. Could it be the motor is not getting enough air?

I redid the exhasut system on my car and it seems to have more power now. I took out all the mufflers but left the cats in and put in a glasspack. Works good now. thanx for all the help.
