buick 455 engine decode...Need help

I just purchased an engine that is said to be a buick 455, casting numbers 1231738, are these the high horsepower 455's from buick...how much would this engine be, is it good to have it with the original 455 intake and all that...thanks

well none SAE horse power rating for the 455 (yay for the 455) should be about 500fbls or touqe and either 300 or 400 no sure on that part. but after 1970 the power drops becuase of the the emsion reqs. i seen complet 455s for about 600 with trans were i live.

is it good to have a 455. its a 455 it the only way to beat a hemi.
