Re: D16Z6 head on a D16A1

This swap won't work on a D16A1, D16A3, D16A8/9, DOHC ZC, or EW/D15. There is one head bolt hole that won't line up, oil passages are different, and there is no timing belt that will fit without a custom made bracket for the timing belt idler pulley. You will need to rewire the car to run the electronic advance distributor and VTEC. This swap will also increase the compression ratio significantly enough to where you risk detonation if you fill the tank with pump gas.

FYI, the DOHC head flows better than the D16Z6 head.

Re: D16Z6 head on a D16A1

actually, it IS possible, but not worth it... you'd have to bolt the head on, have the block machined for that one bolt hole, or the head, either way, backfill with weld, which could break, etc. you'd also have to change your pistons, b/c the chance for interference is too high with that combination of parts... you'd have no possible valve timing advance w/o risking hi-rev interference.

also, the D16A1 head is better if you wanna turbo it or anything like that, b/c it has better flow, and if you wanna use Vtec, there are several diff builds that you can do that don't require milling parts to get them to fit right.
