driver side A/C is warm
passenger side A/c is fine while the driver side is warm even with the A/C set to max. I've seen this TSB title
24-007-02 AUG 02 A/C - Temperature Difference Between Panel Vents
can anyone let me know the details of this TSB. I've also read about the blend air door shaft regarding no heat on the passenger side. Could that also apply for my A/C issue? Any other suggestions? |

Try reading this first. If it doesn't apply, let us know.

Re: driver side A/C is warm
I read the TSB. It's different than the post I listed. They want you to do a scan tool diagnostics to pull A/C codes first. Then, do an A/C calibration. Then do a cool down test. Then do an expansion valve test. It's pretty involved and you'll need the directions to do each test. Time to pony up the $25 for Alldata.

Re: driver side A/C is warm
you mentioned a TXV - that reminds me about another symptom - there's a periodic hissing noise coming from underneath the dashboard on the passenger side. It's most common and loudest right after the van is turned off and the AC has been running but I occassionally notice during normal driving when the AC is on.
I'll buy the TSB access later from AllData. |

Re: driver side A/C is warm
Hissing is a common symptom of low refrigerant. You'll have to connect pressure gauges to know for sure. This should not effect your other vent problem.

Re: driver side A/C is warm
About a year ago, I ended up having to replace the heat-exchanger because of a leak. So all these symptoms that I described at the beginning were a result of low refrigernat due to this leak.
The dealer did the service and provided the parts. The Chrysler replacement part was 2 to 3x other options and the only benefit was a warranty of one year. Basically, $100 for a one year warranty on the part. Ridiculous. |

Re: driver side A/C is warm
Warm on drivers side, cool on passenger side are the same symptoms I had a year ago when I was low on refrigerant. I added some dye to the system and recharged the refrigerant and it's been cooling pretty well ever since. Of course, I had no prior service history because I had only recently purchased the vehicle at that time. I expected a leak and expected the cooling to drop off, but a year later it's still going strong, so maybe it had just never been charged since new.

Re: driver side A/C is warm
I wasn't as lucky. I charaged a bottle and the symptoms went away for a few months, but then took it to the dealer when the symptoms returned.
