Need to adjust how much brake force goes to the front and back.

Hello all, i have a problem.I have a 1989 jeep cherokee and i whant to adjust the braking force.I whant to make it so that more braking force goes to the back then the front.

I converted my 2 disk jeep into a 4 disk jeep.In doing so i changed the stock master cylinder to make it so more brake force goes to the back , and my car was at peace. Then i whent to pepboys to get something changed and the guy threw away my new 4 disk master cylinder so now it doesent work properly (too much braking in the front) He thought he was doing my a favor.

What i whant to know:
1.where can i get a master cylnder that has 50/50 brake force
2.is there something else that i can do to make more brake force go to the back?

-Thanks , sry for long post

Re: Need to adjust how much brake force goes to the front and back.

Be prepared, this is one of those questions where everyone has different experiences with different setups. I have not personally done a disc swap and part of the reason why I havent is because there so much different information floating around about setting the proportions.
First off, you dont want 50/50 split. You would be locking the rears up all the time because the rears only have about 20% of the traction while braking. How do you know you dont have enough braking force going to the rear? Most people Ive read about have too much going to the rear when they do a disc swap because drums arent as sensitive as discs are.
Anyways, you can try to removing or shortening the spring in the front of the proportioning valve. That will give you closer to 50/50. You can also purchase an adjustable proportioning valve. You can use the proportioning valve from a Grand Cherokee or Liberty.
If your brakes were working with whatever you did to the other MC, I would say buy a new (rebuilt) one and do the same thing to it.

Just a thought, but how about a proportioning valve from a Liberty which has four wheel disc brakes.
