No there aren't any clutch cable recalls. The biggest reason why the cables fail are because of a lack of lubrication on the throwout bearing and the shaft it slides on in the bell housing. Typically, the clutch pedal gets more and more stiff and owners don't notice it because it happens gradually. It is obvious to people like me who work on these cars for a living. The minute I step on a customer's clutch pedal, I notice it right away. The only fix is to remove the transmission and clean and lubricate the throwout bearing and the surface it rides on. I use high temp wheel bearing grease. Over many miles the clutch dust settles into the original grease there and turns it into a dry chalk. While you're in there you might as well check and replace the clutch too.
