Air Pump

I read one thing on here telling someone that the air pump can be removed to add some extra power to the rx7. Is that true. I read somewhere else a few years ago that you shouldnt remove the air pump, not because of emitions but because it could make it run improperly. So if anyone could tell me one way or the other if removing it would add more power I would greatly apreciate that. Also I would like to know if its very complicated to remove it.
Thank you.

Re: Air Pump

The power increase would be very marginal, if at all. It is mainly removed to reduce clutter in the engine bay

Re: Air Pump

I disconnected mine once. The only difference I could tell is the car would not pass emissions anymore.

Re: Air Pump

if you're in a state that doesn't care about emissions then you're good

otherwise you can cheat and run the pump to the cat
