blocked oil return passage in ranger 4.0

does anyone know what a blocked oil return passage is? or how to check it clean it

I've heard of oil supply passages but not of return passages. Oil from the sump is sucked in by the pump, go through the filter and on to rings and bearings via oil supply passages. After lubricating the rings and bearings, oil returns to the sump by gravity. Are you sure its not supply passages?
