95 LX Master Cylinder???
Hey I have a 95 LX 5 speed, I can't get the thing to shift because it dosent't seem that the clutch is disengage and I can't change gears, A mechanic told me that it was the master cylinder, but not sure if I trust him, he only looked at it for about 5 secs and didn't sound sure, does this sound right to anyone else??? and if so a I am pretty hand with a wrench, could I do this myself? about the most abbitious thing I have done so far is change the rotors and pads on a 01 explorer.

Re: 95 LX Master Cylinder???
Grab a manual and read up on how to add fluid to the cylinder and bleed the air out of the system. There are some very cheap tools available that will help you to bleed the system by yourself.
If it turns out to not be a problem with fluid then consider that you may have to replace your clutch. Is this the original clutch in your 95? |

No it is not the original clutch, in fact the clutch is new, only about 3k mi, at most, I am guessing that you think that it probably isn't bad, just needs bleed?

Re: 95 LX Master Cylinder???
It is the easiest thing to check before you get too far in to it... make sure the fluid is full in the reservoir and bleed the air out.
You may also have a bad master cylinder... fluid may be getting around the plunger so that the clutch does no operate. |
