Question 96 Maxima VS. 95 Monte Carlo Z34

Some idiot from work thinks his Automatic 95 Monte Carlo Z34 will beat my 96 Maxima 5 sp. He says we both have the same engine and that his is lighter because it is a two door, I know he's poorly mistaken. Should I be able to tear up his piecer?

Yep, you will rip him a new *sshole, it's no contest. Actually, come to think of it, ask him if he wants to race for money...it's a sure win on your part

Casper...

I'm in Laramie. Based upon what he said, it sounds like the guy from your work is an idiot. They're not the same engine or anything close. Your car is 400 lbs lighter. The monte is a big, heavy, typical GM car. I believe you have a 3.0L with 190 hp, that about right? The Monte would have a 3.4L DOHC with 210 hp and 215 lb ft. The auto hurts it a bit compared with the earlier Lumina Z34's with the 5 speeds. They're roughly 0.5 sec quicker to 60 and the same in the quarter.

If you ever wanna race a 95 Monte Z34, lemme know. I come through Casper every once in a while. I'm working on a turbo kit with the same people who make a 4th gen maxima turbo kit. (PFI speed in Ft Collins) If you'd like to check it out, we're looking at finishing it around Christmas.

There's a fair aftermarket.

APC makes speed glo(indiglow) and white faced gauges for it. www.procarparts.com has gauges that work for some years, but I have an 8k tach versus their 6.5k(I think). We're trying to get www.speedhut.com to make guages, but there aren't enough people signed up right now.

Right now there's a group buy on 3 gauge pillars.

For tail lights, most guys shave the badges and niteshade the rear panel and rear tail lights.

there's a ton of performance stuff for the 3.8 in the 98 and later Z34, but the 3.4 in the 95-97 Z is a bit underrepresented.

he should check out http://www.mymonte.com He'll find a ton of info there and mods.

www.rsmracing.com makes some suspension, brake, and engine parts
http://www.heldmotorsports.com/ makes stb's, coilovers, and big brake kits.

Hope this helps!

Tim
