amt and fnf supra

ok I just read in my recent issue of model cars magazine, and they said AMT is making a supra and eclipse kit from the FnF, my question is will it be any better than revel's kits? or should I just take the body kit and stick it on my tamiya supra

Cool

That would be awesome. But ive built a few AMT models and...well....they sucked. The scaling could be slightly different, i'd think, but you could try it. I'd try it too on my Tamiya supra. Thanks for the info.

first of all, The revell will not be kits, they will be 1/24 die-casts pre built.

second, its a amt, unless they drasteclly changed and the copyrights reuested them to build a good model you can expect some problems, but nothing that some modelling skills can''t fix.

Not true, they are going to do both kits and pre built models.

Since nobody has seen either Revell or AMT test shots of any of these models, it's too early to tell whose will be better. Revell's diecast bodies are usually pretty decent, but the plastic engines/chassis and interiors aren't as nice as what they put into their plastic kits, it's as if because it's a diecast model they dumb down the whole thing, which isn't a good idea to me.

I don't expect either company's models to be anything near as nice as a Tamiya Supra or the Revell ITR or upcoming Civic Si and hatchback kits. I don't have much hope the AMT F&F kits will be much good, they don't have kit designers in the US any more, and these new plastic kits may be designed more like diecast models, so they probably won't have much detail and the proportions may not be all that great.

BTW, the upcoming diecast Civic from Revell's F&F series is the older, original 2 door coupe (not hatchback) from about 1993. Their Civic Si plastic kit will be a 1999 model.
