Harmonic Balancer/Crankshaft Pulley
I've gone through 3 crankshaft pulleys.I dont know why but they keep splitting at the rubber than seals the part where the built rides on and the actual pulley.Ive checked to make sure my belt isnt too tight and all that.Someone mentioned that it could be because my timing chain is going bad,but I don't see how that could affect it,but maybe it could. They always break like 5 days after I install them.I'm running outta suggestions.
Any help would be much appreciated. |

Re: Harmonic Balancer/Crankshaft Pulley
How are you removing them and reinstalling them? If you use a regular jaw type puller you will damage the rubber. You have to use a harmonic balancer remover/installer tool.

Re: Harmonic Balancer/Crankshaft Pulley
I haven't been using a pulley remover.Think thats the problem? We just break the bolt loose and put the new one on.I have been getting them from a site called rockauto.com.They are pretty much the only place I can find them from since the closest saturn dealership is a good 150 miles away.
