jeep vs. mustang

i am thinking of purchasing a 97' jeep wrangler 4cyl. (which "some" people say suck) se. i am currently driving a 00' mustang v6..i was wondering if that is a good upgrade or not for me?? anyways i have test drove that 97' jeep and i did like it a lot! i love the look and 4x4 option ( i can finally go muddin! plus i will not get stranded in the winter in my long gravel drive way for 2 weeks!! ) and yes i do live on a farm 4x4 could be used and do go off road quite a bit in the stang( even though i shouldnt but i do not hurt it at all..i would die before that would happen).. and the low range in speed does not affect me i hate the interstate it is boring! i avoid at all cost. Plus it is cheaper to go slow thanks 2 speeding tickets.. sooo comment plz!

Re: jeep vs. mustang

You'll never get tickets anymore! In the 3 years I had my Eclipse I got pulled over at least 10 times... But not once during the year I've owned the Jeep. Just remember that the 4cyl is not going to work as a daily driver with 35 inch tires! And forget about any kind of sportiness that you had with your Stang (with or without oversized tires). Both cars are American Icons, but for two completely different reasons.
I'd say go for it!

I'd trade a Mustang for a Jeep. Now you can go places off road with little problem

Same here. I sold my `94 GT convertible and got an`00 TJ. It's still a convertible, it's still a 5 speed, plus I can tow with it and drive it in the winter months!

Re: jeep vs. mustang

Wranglers ROCK!!! I'm a big NASCAR fan and I love speed, But nothing can compare to driving a Wrangler stock-or-jacked on-or-off road (jacked up and off road is funner lol)

I own a TJ and one day hope to own a CJ or Willies

Get a Jeep, Get a Wrangler, you wont regret it

Re: jeep vs. mustang

rock the jeep it's more useful and off roading is always sweet and the chances of tickets go down sharpely.

Re: jeep vs. mustang

other than convertible option, the two couldnt be more different

if you are not off-roading ever, then you might miss the sporty feel of the 'stang going to a wrangler.

Re: jeep vs. mustang

Do not get me wrong but I would not want to mess up a street car on heavy off road so yes the jeep for off roading. But I prefer one of my autos the Lamborghini the most for sporty speed.

Apples and oranges. Chicks dig Jeeps. What better reason is there?

Re: jeep vs. mustang

I would go for the Jeep, but one thing, if you can, get one with the 4.0ltr. The 4 cyl. works ok, my wife has one with 150K and auto. It works good for her, but I like the 4.0 in my XJ, more power and ability. Milage isn't much differant either.

Re: jeep vs. mustang

A few things to consider.

1 - men's health surveys will even tell you that a girl will go for a guy in jeans and a ball cap in a jeep (or truck) over a guy in a car.. modern girls may have a second look at the pansy in the BMW roadster though.. But don't underrate the cars. Like what was said earlier.. apples and oranges man.
I used to be a car guy til I got my first 95 YJ 4cyl automatic.. Now I drive an 89 YJ 4.2L 5 speed with a lift and tires and am planning on so much more (not too excessive for rock crawling.. but going for a good trail rig). They are addictive.

2 - As long as you don't over do it, your 4 cyl can push some nice 31x10.50 tires without a problem.. look hot doing it and maybe have a 2" lift. It looks great, gives you the wheel clearance you need for the tires and will allow you to get off-road to see if you eventually want to go for more upgrades or a different rig. But with all that you still have a Jeep that won't kill you on pavement. I loved my 95.

Hope that helps man.

Cheers.

Re: jeep vs. mustang

The 4 bangers are good, but I'd get a stick, not an auto.
