2004 Montana - floor puddles on passenger side...

Hello,

Got a 04 Montana (56K) that has accumulated substantial puddles of water on the passenger side floorboard during the last few weeks of AC usage. The floorboard wiring running near the passenger door was underwater . I can only assume that this means my A/C drain hose is clogged and needs to be cleaned or replaced.

I found the hole in the firewall for the drain and was able to get a coat hanger wire about 3 inches or so into the tube. I also managed to blow some compressed air in there from a can of air used for PC's. I ran the AC for a good hour after that in the driveway and it all seemed to drain outside the car, however today I drove it a bit and the water is back in the car again (and it wasn't raining).

Do I need to either tackle this from the dash side, get more wire into the hole, or look for something else??

Thanks for any assistance!

KJ

You may still have some leaves and such still stuck in the AC box.

If you don't have one, there is a 90 degree elbow tube that you can put on the end of the drain tube. I don't remember the part number, but any GM dealer should be able to look it up for you.

If you get one, point it down (towards the road).

Take Care,

Take Care,
Greg....thanks for the heads up on the elbow tube. I'll call about that tomorrow. Regarding still having stuff clogging the tube, I was able to get a wire in about 3 inches (working from under the car). Do you think I should be able to get something further in there to do a better clean job? I'm wondering if maybe I can get a batter angle on it by taking the front right wheel off....didn't try that yet.

Of course, it's hot here and my wife may lose patience waiting for me to mess with it as I have the front passenger trim and carpeting tore up ....it's her car....I get the 92 Civic.

Thanks, KJ

Just to update....

My wife took it in and it turns out it wasn't a clogged drain. The service techs found a bulletin about a seal that goes bad under the dash that can cause this....so I guess it's a big job, but fortunately covered by warranty....so I got a rental Tahoe for couple days. I'll post back once I get details on the fix.
