Re: Please Help power widow problem!!

3 suggestions:

- stop using it so it doesn't get stuck down

- (may require tedious work) Pull out the window switch from the center console, undo wire connector, take to safe place like a table where you won't lose parts that you drop, pry tabs gently to open it. What you're going for is the metal contact points that each window rocker switch makes contact with. Keep taking apart until you can get at the metal contacts - clean carbon/corrosion off with rubbing alcohol, qtips, gently scrape with knife, or whatever it takes to get good contact. Just be gentle and pay attention to how everything goes together or you may end up buying a new one.

- Try this when the window is not working: take the door panel off where the window isn't working. Find wire connector at the window motor and unplug. Use a 12volt test light with a paper clip or similar thing at the alligator clip end (or use a voltmeter) - put the paper clip end in one terminal and the probe end in the other - try the window switch both up and down and see if it lights up. If it does both ways, then you need a window motor. If not, well, then it gets trickier.

Hopefully that helps a little. BTW, 2 of my window motors have failed in my 97 - so it's a strong possibility that you got the same prob.

Re: Please Help power widow problem!!

This happened to me last winter.. of course because of winter.. i couldnt really mess around with... I took the car to the dealer to have it checked out and the problem was the motor driver's side. So of course I had to get it replaced by the pro's..lol.. Everything works now and it goes up very fast compared to the other side.. it did cost me cloes to 300.00 $$.. I just hope it doesnt happen soon to the passenger side.. Pray for me..lol runaround
