Son got my camera

My son got a hold of my camera strap that was hanging off the table. Technically my fault but it fell and hit the floor hard right on the lens. It's a digital SLR so the body was fine, but the lens broke. I had to buy a new one. I'm pissed that it broke but happy that I finally got to buy a new lens!

Anyone else have a pissed that it broke but happy I got to get a better one story?

Anytime my computer breaks lol...When something goes wrong with it I'm just like "Dammit...I get to buy a new (insert part here)!" Which means I get to drive into Tiger and have a look at all the neat stuff while I'm spending all my money.

never, i don't have enough money to replace anything so i'm screwed if stuff breaks (although my parents are covering my car expenses as long as i'm in university so that covers most of the stuff that breaks)

I can't recall ever being happy with stuff breaking. I've had dreams of upgrade but then I look in my pocket and reality sets in.

But when a light went out in the house I did get to upgrade to the cool new 10 year bulbs if that counts

i once dropped my dad's Minolta SLR, but it's pretty solid and only the UV filter broke.

Dropped one of my digital cameras into a bucket of water once. Stuck it by the radiator and it worked fine again.

Ha. I've never been that lucky with electronics. I dropped a heart rate monitor in a hot tub once, and it never recovered....

I think I'm on my 7th cell phone and 4th palm pilot. And I don't even use palm pilots. I'm still on my first laptop though, oddly enough....

I dropped my cell in the toilet the Friday before the Bears played in the superbowl. Sat it in the florida sun for a day and a half and it worked again... it was a bad omen for my Bears though

I got bodily fluid on my phone once, but it still worked. Don't ask. Bad weekend.

I seem to kill out my phones via water incidents but everytime I send it int hey don't seem to find that out. I guess there's a dot that changes colors when wet. Yeah, they get soaked, but it doesn't change. First time was nice, got a better phone.

Second time, I got a crappier phone. I hate it so much...

So what lens broke and whatcha replace it with? Something real nice I hope.

I had the stock lens that came with my Nikon d50 the AF 18-55 wide. But it seemed really flimsy and cheap. I went to best buy to buy a new one only to find one lens avalible for 150. The AF 55-200. I shrugged my sholders and said I had to take pictures. I only had a best buy card, other cash was very limited. Well turns out I cant take any good pictures with it because it starts at 55. I'm going to sell it on ebay and pick up the AF 18-70. Looks like an amazing lens and I can sell and buy for the same price, unless you have any other ideas?

NIkon's 18-70? Yes, very nice lens indeed. Too bad they took it off their cameras. Sigma came out with a 55-200 and 18-50 HSM now. Nikon's 55-200 VR is suppose to be real nice for $250 or less. Um...Sigma's 17-70 is a great lens starting from F2.8-4.5. Great overall lens and versatile obviously.

You can see if Best Buy has any of that online or use the money from when you sell the lens or whatnot.
