Pictures of the new 5-Series

Hello,

It has been a long time since I have written on this forum. The last time I wrote something it was concerning how disappointed I was at how Chris Bangle was mangling the designs of the BMWs. They are no longer classic designs, but ugly shapes that are the furthest thing from BMW's heritage.

I have found two pictures of the new 5-Series from the BMW 2002 News Page (http://www.bmw2002.co.uk/news.htm).

Please tell me what you think, but if you ask me it looks like a Honda Accord for the first 3/4 and then a Peugeot from the back. For me, a BMW fan, it is painful to see BMWs getting disfigured by Chris Bangle.

They really want to make another 7-series ? The front lights are really awful. I must admit that I kind of like the back of the 5 though.

Yeah I have to agree the front is awful.. I am very very disappointed. My father is a big fan of the 5 series and he doesn't like it either. what's the next car, a Volvo???

what's with the oriental head and tail lights? :smoka: and that bizzare line over the front grill? is the new 5 series embarassed of the kidney grill? it looks like its trying to hide it with its upper lip! :smoka: this is not really an improved design over a 92' 5 series or even an e28. I wonder if a Japanese car company has bought BMW, and are now implementing their design characteristics :smoka:

Hello again!

after all this picture here and all the pictures shown in the net are not the final result of what the new 5-series will be. I will not like if it looks like that, but

the rumour goes that the final model _actually does look real kickbutt amazzing!!!!!!!_ :frog: :frog:

this I heard from a bloke that has seen the finished model in Germany. there were no photographing allowed or the importing contract would have been broken. He is a car salesman here in finland.

So I think there's nothing to worry about..

Thats one ugly concept. I think BMW should simply redesign the interior of the existing 5-series and leave the outside alone for the most part....maybe add a few horses to each engine.

The current M5 is still the daddy and the new one will have at least 500bhp!!!!!


For those who think BMW should have left the 5 as it was, as much as i like the current shape, it simply says nothing about a company's ability to move forward. Not impressive standing still when your competitors are evolving, no?
