Heater Core

Can anyone direct me on how to rteplace the heater core in 1995 540i? I've been quoted $900 for the reapir and it appears the part is only aqbout $150.00. My brother-in-law is the talented one, so if I can get some advise he can read he may do it for a couple of beers and a hot meal!

Re: Heater Core

Better plan on a case of beer, and a steak cookout! This link relates to an older series, but should give you a rough idea of what it takes to get to the heater core. It's a job I've been putting off for several years now....

Good luck!

Re: Heater Core

It's a big job. Your BIL will want a LOT more than some brewski's and a meal, I guarantee it! I had to have it done on my previous car (a '92 525I) and was lucky because I convinced my neighbor (who runs a body shop) to do the heater core for me. Still cost me $850 but I knew it was done right. IMO $900 isn't too bad at all...
