Exhaust Question

I have a buddy that owns a shop and he has offered to put duals on my truck with no mufflers, just the stock cats still in place. My question is will this basically be to loud or give that nasty cracking sound when you let off the gas? I have a 6.0L so I guess the stock exhaust is a little different, GM has two pipes coming to the muffler then a single going out, basically what he is going to do is cut the muffler and put two 2.5" pips out the back with a 45degree angle on each side (like the look personally) I don't know a lot about exhaust in fact this is one of the first trucks I've actually decided to even mess with the exhaust..so any help on the subject would be great.
Thanks-
Danny

Re: Exhaust Question

I did something similiar. On my 2000 it was y-piped to a singlr pipe to the muffler. I had them remove everything. then y-pipe it out to two 2.5" pipes to the end and it sound great! Not to loud at all. Sounded real good. you also did not get that incab exhaust knows you typically do when you put on a high-perf muffler.. you will be very happy with the setup.

Re: Exhaust Question

I have a 6.0l with a 2.5" Magnaflow system. true duels, the cross pipe is in the muffler and it sounds great. mind you i also have a set of 1 3/8" long tube headers as well. i love the sound of my truck... real quiet on the road but great low bark when you step on it... i wouldn't have it any other way.

Re: Exhaust Question

Mine is the same way. not very loud when idle, but when you get on it. People turn there heads.
