Re: well.. she is down for a while this time..

rarely do people ask where to buy high performance internal engine parts "for a good deal". engine internals, especially if forged, aren't going to be cheap. i know Crower and Pauter both make rods for our cars. don't recall the prices, but i'm sure you could call or check out the websites of Dynamic Racing, IPS, 3SX, LSE Performance, or if you want THE best, talk to Ray Pampena at Pampena Motorsports. personally, i would stray from 3SX b/c of their cutthroat business practice and they tend to inflate prices a LOT. i would stick with IPS, LSE, and Pampena.

you get what you pay for, but there aren't many options for engine internals, so you'll only have a handful of prices to pick from.

Re: well.. she is down for a while this time..

that sux to hear man...but it sounds like you've got a good jump on it. motor rebuilds are the most fun thing you can do on a car IMO.

so are the clevite's really an upgrade from the OEM ones? Is it better to get oversized ones?

Re: well.. she is down for a while this time..

you should never change the torque specs unless specifically instructed to do so by an aftermarket part. the stock motor are good AT LEAST up to 30 psi and probably more, but people have never really gone beyond that point b/c after ~800 AWHP the cranks and bearings fail. plus, at that power level turbos have been upgraded to larger ones that push more cfm at a lower boost.

so many factors to take in when doing a rebuild. i highly suggest you do some reading over on 3Si BEFORE you start the rebuild. your hp goals will determine the parts (internals) you'll need.

Damn!

I hate to hear that man.

At least you're making the best of a crappy situation. Everyone loves forced upgrades.
