04 Grand Am backup lights not working

i have a 04 grand am and the upper backup lights are not working now. the bulbs and fuse are good....the sockets seem to be a little rusted.....any help would be appreciated....thanks......

more then likely the rust is causing the lights not to work. Try to file it down with some sandpaper or even an emery board maywork... be very careful on the contacts. Also check the bulbs again and make sure that the wire contacts on the base are not corroded and melted into the base. this will also cause th lights not to work. good luck

Man, you would have thought by the time they made the 04 models they would have fixed the leaks in these tail light

I had to use a dremil tool to clean mine and others.
For some reason they get realy hot and melt the base of the bulbs as grfnkl stated.

After you get them working you might want to seal up the back side of the part that the bulbs go into with some silicone
