There is a post in the LS400 section that addresses this issue; do search. I tried it but it did not work for me so I bought new batteries and went to LEXUS where they did it for free.
TIP: Attach your new remote to your old key and if the car is still under warranty, it's a covered item. Just say "I don't know, my remote wont work"
