Removing hard to remove bushings

I was trying to get a bushing out of an oil pump last week it was really in there ! Somewhere I had heard about threading the bushing with a tap ,screwing in a bolt and driving it all out with a punch or rod ... Well I tapped the bushing with a big tap I had then I found a bolt that fit, screwed it in and drove the bushing right out with a long punch ! SO EASY ! Took about 5 minutes I just thought I would pass this on and save some other guy a lot of trouble.. BOB

Re: Removing hard to remove bushings

Another good way is to use a cape chisel and cut a grove in the bushing. The bushing will fall right out.

Re: Removing hard to remove bushings

Or you could use a Oil Pump Bushing Remover
May not be worth the cost if you're only doing it one though.
