Whining Noise?
Car Information:
1996 Pontiac Firebird 3.8L with 90K miles. When I start my car up I hear a loud whining noise for about a couple weeks and starting a couple days ago when I accelerate the noise will randomly appear. I'm thinking it might be the belt tensioner pully? Anyone have any experience with this problem or could give me some tips on replacing the belt tensioner if it is the case? It would be greatly appreciated!! Last edited by firebirdycamaro; 06-26-2012 at 07:22 PM. |

Re: Whining Noise?
Sounds like there might be too much slack in the belt.

Re: Whining Noise?
Well, check your power steering fluid level. Inspect the belt, if it hasn't been changed in a while, it's cheap intsurance to do so, while you have it off turn all the pulleys by hand and note any out of the ordinary.
