acceleration problems

I have an 04 alero 4 cyl. When I attempt to accelerate it takes forever to pick up speed. Sounds like a gas guzzling truck. Sometimes the rpm will rev up but car is struggling to pick up speed. Ive had the transmission checked, no problem there. Any suggestions

Re: acceleration problems

A misfire would trigger the check engine light.
Possibly a clogged catalytic converter. You might also check the fuel filter and fuel pump. If the filter hasn't been changed in a while, just change it. It's a $10 part at Walmart, and a 15 minute job in your driveway.
