Question Tell mey why NOT to purchase 97 528i?

I own two older 3 Series BMW cars; considering replacing my business car (00 Volvo S70) w/used 528i car. Appreciate feedback from any owners, particulary of 97 model year cars.....plusses and minuses on the car. / TIA / Bill in San Ramon, CA

Yeah, despite this being the first year of the current generation 5 series (e39), it has no safety recalls. You're better off to get the 528i and just not have to worry about any of the Nikasil problems of the V-8s.

If you're buying private party make sure you get a pre purchase inspection done or make sure you have some documentation of the car's history. Other than that, just don't buy parts from the dealership unless it can't be found anywhere else on the internet.

What?

Even if it had 75k that would still be right on avg mileage per year for a 97. Buy it after you have it inspected by a reputible mechanic.

Buy a 98 or newer, fewer issues.

My car is so cheap to maintain. It has decent power for an 87'. It has 200,000 miles.

Just make sure the car is running well!
