Talking 2007 Silverado_Mounting a small safe

Hi,
I have a small safe that I would like to mount in front of the console,
directly in front of the cupholders, on the large flat carpet area, below
ash try, etc.

It fits there nicely and could be bolted down in each corner, inside the safe.
The top opens up and there is enough clearance to use it as I need to.

What I'm wondering is, am I going to run into brake lines, wiriing, drilling into
critical stuff like the back end of the bellhousing(seems too far back), or
anything else I am gonna wish I hadn't...

Appreciate any advice,

Thanks,
Gary in Oregon

see your local gun shop for a under dash holster. if thay still make them. that will keep your gun just out of view and ready for use.

if its for other things then you will need to go under the truck to find the spot. use the bolts for the seat to get your location. If i remeber right been a few since i have been under a truck with out 4 wheel and manual. there is not much room to reach around the tranie.

a safe in view will make your truck a target.

Yeah, good point about being in view.
Been thinking about that.
Might put it behind the console on the floor there.
Pretty hard to see.
Does have 4wd but is auto.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: 2007 Silverado_Mounting a small safe

thieves will brake a lot of things in a truck just for simple stuff. we had one group of kids that busted a window out just for a buck. thay did the same for a pack of smokes, when thay found the pack empty thay trasted the inside of the truck.

I almost caught one of them but my step-mom had a habit of locking the screen door. not wanting to rip it out slowed me down. he got a few blocks on me. it was good for the cops thay had caught the kid be for and the area i lost him gave them enough info to go get him. I was still out a carton of smokes. could of been worse. I had some expensive tools setting in the cab of the truck. not having a window in the middle of winter and a 50 mile drive home was bad enough.

You could always put it under the drivers seat, that would keep it out of view and still functional. Also there isn't much running under the seat of my truck(2002 4WD Auto ECSB). Good luck!

Yeah, I thought of under the driver's seat but there is all the hardware for
the electric seat so no go there at all.
Also, the top opens up instead of the end opening out.

I'll get under it tomorrow and check it out for space to drill through.

one question, what does your center seat look like. are you any good with a welder and plasma cutter. you could make your seat swing up and depending on the size of the safe you mite need to sink it a inch or two.

or you could just take the bottom out of the seat and put the safe under.

Negative on the welder or plasma cutter.
The safe opens up(top up) so under a seat would present problems anyway.

Still thinking...
