programming keyless remote for 1993 Olds Bravada

I just acquired a 1993 Oldsmobile Bravada. Ordered 2 remotes on the web. Great shipping. Had them in 2 days. Problem is I can't get them to program. Have been in contact with the vendor. Still no go. They told me to make a "U" out of a paper clip. Insert one end in G of the DSL, the other end in A. I did that, the doors go through the locking mode, I press any button on one of the remotes, nothing happens. I purchased new batteries thinking they might have sold me remotes with dead batteries, still nothing. They insist the FCC is correct for that model. ABO0104T. Any help out there. I have tried with the vehicle off, on, door open, door closed. I just think there is more to it than sticking a paperclip in the front hole of the DSL. I know the vehicle is equipped with a factory remote, because it was my father-in-laws vehicle. His original remote broke and he tossed it. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Fergus.
