98' sunfire 2.2 starts but dies--ECU problem?

Hi:
Car wont start and already checked for fuel pressure and everything seems to be alright. I changed the exhaust, catalytic converter, spark plug cables, new head gasket and no solution.
Car starts if i rev it up, but as soon as I release the pedal the car dies. I have to keep the revs over 2k RPM and misfires.
My guess is a damaged ECU.
Anyone has an advice before I buy a new ECU?
Any input would be greatly apreciated. Thanks!
