97 5.7 vortec
I have a 350 from a 97 truck and I want to convert it to a carb due to putting it in something non chevy . But my question is this . Is this the Gen 1 with vortec heads and are the exhaust manifolds still the same as the older models for the header applications . My thought is a Edelbrook performer intake manifold with a edelbrook 650 carb and block hugger headers. With a 700r4 and a np 241 transfer case . Any ideas ?

Re: 97 5.7 vortec
You should have no problem with the exhaust manifolds/headers, but this is a Vortec engine and the intake from a standard SB will not work on it; it will not fit. You will need a Vortec intake, but take heart, because there are aftermarket carb intakes for these heads.
