Mercedes-Benz S500

This will be my next project:

It's a Mercedes Benz S500 made by Italeri scale 1/24

It's a quite big car but not many parts inside the box.

First I dryfitted the body parts because I heard that this kit have some fitment troubles. After that I thrown away the original ugly wheels and replaced them for Fujimi Veilside Baccarat wheels:

The colour will be Gun Metall. Maybe I'll customize something but don't know yet.

Kris.

Re: Mercedes-Benz S500

Those wheels are a BIG improvement over the standard ones. They remind me of the Lorinser wheels available for this model.

They transform it from an ugly fat cow to something quite mean

Re: Mercedes-Benz S500

At first I wasn't crazy about the blade effect of the new rims, but I looked over it for a while and I completely like them! This is going to look great. Are you going to strip the rims though and do them better? That chrome kind of cheapens the model (to me).

Re: Mercedes-Benz S500

I have the same Italeri kit. What are you going to do about the disc breaks? You are right about the wheels, the ones with the kit are pathetic.

Re: Mercedes-Benz S500

for the wheels, they are a great improvement.

I wouldn't customise anything on that kind of car, 4 nice wheels, PE brake discs, BMF here and there and voilà

Re: Mercedes-Benz S500

Yesterday I made this beauty ready for paint.

Today I searched for a nice colour and I came up with Tamiya Coral Blue.

After a couple of layers I clearcoated the body with Pearl Clear to get some metallic effect.

And with the Veilside wheels:

I think it's different but a very nice colour for such a VIP car.
The interior will be white and some blue details and the woodlook decals on the dashboard.

Re: Mercedes-Benz S500

Yesterday I polished the body and waxed it.

In the sun this colour is awesome. I tryed to get that effect with light from a desklamp but it's not the same...

The suspension had to be lowered of course. This was a very simple job. I shaved a bit away of the pillars where the rearaxle must be mounted.

On the front I used an both sides 2 of that tube things wich came with the Fujimi wheels. They're glued and the result is that the axle came higher into the wheelroom (wheelbase or whatever... )

I als painted the chassis

And painted the exhaust

To stop this huge heavy car, some good brakes were needed. Brembo delivered some for this Mercedes.
Painted the calibers in blue which is just a detail to the exterior.

Not driven any mile and the chassis is already dirt....

The big brakes really fill up the space behind the wheels.

And as usuall a total dryfitt

As you can see on some pics I started to made some progress on the interior. The main colours will be white and ligthblue. Some wooden details will make it luxury I think.

Looks good! Are you going for VIP style or your own? The color and wheels are a good combination too! Keep it up.

Re: Mercedes-Benz S500

Not bad at all, I think you make a very unusual car from a simple kit: the color gives a 'little bit of pimped' look to this Benzino, also the rims & brakes! I'm looking forward the results at the end!

Very easy I used the tamiya wheateringset special for the exhaust and anothter one just for the chassis. It's so easy that even a beginner can get a result like this or even better. Well worth the money

I don't know exact what the VIP style is ment to be, but I just make a luxury car with big wheels and max. lowered. I think that's enough to make it not overdone.
