92 lumina

I have a 92 3.1 lumina car. Stalls and hesitates at random. Ignition module done and nothing showing on scope. Will sometimes start right away after stalling and idling rough and other times will take 15 minutes to get going with foot on gas. Can go 400 kilomoters between episodes. Mechanics having real problem figuring it out. Rides like a charm in between episodes. Any ideas. Ignition module and computer have been replaced. Gas tank sucks in air when opened even with new gas cap

Re: 92 lumina

my first guess is the CKPS (crank position sensor) or the wiring between it and the ICM (ignition control module). I would also check the ECM for evidence of water intrusion (it's mounted under the hood in the right front fender area) . If the oem service # is 1227727, then there's a good chance it's bad (that oem# is a high failure part).

Re: 92 lumina

mmm, i was having alot of the same problems on my 92 lumina euro, it turned out to be the fuel pump was going, but ill tell you now, if you replace it, dont replace it with a cheap off brand one, any mechanic will tell you that more times than not, they will die within a year
