boring.
does anyone know how wide the cylinders in the stock motor can be bored out? 3000 in a v6 doesn't seem like it's making use of such a large motor. maybe it's just me though. but has anyone bored their's out?

Re: boring.
well v6 blocks can be different sizes man...just like 4-bangers can be anywhere from 1.3L to 2.5L (like the one in my LeBaron
) doesnt mean a 1.3 can be bored to 2.5.but anyway, i know IPS sells .55 over pistons...seems like pushing it though. if/when i take that step, im goin with .35 over. |

Re: boring.
just got confirmation today from some very knowledgeable 3S ppl (Ray Pampena et al). absolute SAFE maximum the 6G72 can be bored to is .120 over. most people will tell you not to go more than .100 over b/c .120 is pushing a very narrow cylinder wall.
you won't make a significant increase in power by boring the cylinder, simply because we cannot bore it very much at all. if you want to increase power at the motor first, go with a higher compression ration piston, port & polished heads, perhaps oversized intake/exhaust valves, and cams.
