1990 gt mustang cluth pedal clicking need help
I have a 1990 mustang. this morning When I went to start it the clutch pedal broke. I am not 100 sure what it is, but I have tracked it down to the part. First off when I say broke I mean once it got half way down makes a load bang and looses all resiance and goes to the floor. Then I have to pull the pedal up, and it goes click click click all the way up.
Looking up under the dash there is a little box that that has a shaft coming out that looks to be linkage in a way, from the pedal and the clutch cable. My question is first off what is that part called so I can get a new one if that is the case? And is there a way to repair it. I am tight on funds and would like to do this cheap, or possibly free. Any thoughts? Thank you all for your time. |

Re: 1990 gt mustang cluth pedal clicking need help
If I'm not mistaken the "box" your talking about is just what the clutch pedal runs thrue to to get the cable/quadrant up to the firewall and away from the brake booster ect.
I think your problem is the pressure plate.

Re: 1990 gt mustang cluth pedal clicking need help
after being told I am an idiot I now know the box was just a switch, there in major linkage under there and my problem was by the gas pedal. it is the ato ajudting cluth mechenism.
This shit is a pain in the ass. won;t have the part till tuesday, on top of that it is taking forever. Neet to drop the steering colum. remove pedels. just can't wait to be rollon again. |

Re: 1990 gt mustang cluth pedal clicking need help
This reply may be too late to help but I would personally get rid of the self adjusting clutch quadrant and replace the whole setup with a Steeda (or similar) clutch quadrant and a firewall adjuster. It's nice to be able to pop the hood and make a few turns at the firewall versus the whole push down, pull up (it's been so long since I got rid of it I don't remember the proceedure...) Good luck with your repairs.
