Question '93 1500 Clutch/Cruise issue

My clutch master cyl/slay cyl was leaking, and I took it to be replaced at a very reputable shop. I got the truck back, and noticed the cruise would not work. I also noticed the clutch pedal was not even with the brake pedal anymore... it's about a half-inch lower than it used to be... just far down enough to where the pedal can't press the cruise button under the dash. It seems that the push rod on the new part is about a half-inch shorter than the original part. I'm quite sure the replacement part came from a local parts house... not the Chevy dealer.

I took the truck back and showed them the problem... they were surprised with the problem, but very apologetic and said they would look into it.

Here's my question: Has anyone replaced this clutch cylinder and had a similar problem with the cruise? I'm thinking that this part might need to come from GM since this aftermarket part apparently is off spec by just a little.

Re: '93 1500 Clutch/Cruise issue

FYI... if you ever get a clutch master cylinder replaced, insist on your shop installing a genuine GM part!

After not being satisfied with the way my truck came out, I asked the shop to replace the master cyl a second time, but with a part from the Chevy dealer instead of an aftermarket part.

Even though the two parts looked the same, it turned out that they were somehow different. Using the GM part brought my clutch pedal back up to where it was supposed to be, and now it presses the button to allow the cruise to work as it originally did. All is now good.
