Recommended CAI?

Need help deciding on a cold air intake. All opinions are welcome.

Re: Recommended CAI?

If you have an LS1, don't get a CAI, get a lid. Cheaper and just as good.

Re: Recommended CAI?

So for LS1 this is JUST as good as getting CIA? Looks like I got more money to spend cause this is like 200 bucks cheaper. Anything else inexpensive to add to my list?

I already have a K&N Filter to add to this as well, nice.

I was thinking of getting a shortthrow shifter, know a specific brand to go with and what not?

Quoting this from my friend below.
"It will probably, more or less, have the same effect. The whole idea behind replacing the airbox with with a new intake is to improve airflow into the engine. Don't expect a huge difference in power, all intakes are still just a relatively cheap bolt-on upgrade."

Should I instead get the SLP Cold Air Package instead of just the airbox itself. http://www.lmperformance.com/2909/1.html

Re: Recommended CAI?

yes the lid is just as good as a CAI, you dont need to spend 300 bucks on a FIPK or something like that. the slp flow pack is a nice package but since you already have the filter, you could buy the just the lid and smooth bellows. as for other cheap mods, if you have a 98-00 LS1, you can cut off the part of the egr tube that sticks down into the intake, and perform the throttle body bypass. a couple other fairly cheap things are 8mm plug wires, new rocker arms 1.7 or 1.8 ratio, and an underdrive pulley. If you have not already done so, get a good catback exhaust to complement the new lid. magnaflow is a good system.
