Unhappy 2003 Impala- Skid maybe transmission problem!

So recently my car started acting funny at aceleration. At times, when i go to accelerate it'll skid (kind of bounce) and then take off. It seems as if something is spinning and just misses the hook to spin something else so it just keeps spinning to it finally latches. I have no idea what it could be, but this lady at my work had said that she had to replace her transmission because it would stall during accelaration. I'm hoping this isnt the case! Any ideas???

You need somebody knowledgeable to road test this car for you, by your description it is difficult to advise you with this.
