I have a 98 eclipse GST with oem replacement pads and rotors and under heavier braking the back tires lock up usually just one or the other is this common for this car?

Mine does it sometimes. Its just because the back gets light when you slam on the brakes. Does your car have abs?

make sure all the air is out of the calipers... an air bubble can push the piston cocked... and cause the brakes to lock...
but if it does this, the rotors will be WAY hot just from normal driving because the pad is always rubbing on the rotor... as for under HARD conditions, the back tires loose weight off them, causing them to slip...
