several questions
ok got a 200 monte got several questions...
1. the car came with a factory 5 button keyless entry, four in the normal location and one smaller button on the side. ive figgured out that one is for locking, one is for unlocking, one is for the trunk, but am clueless as for the other two.... 2. the car has an aftermarket cd player. now ive found out that most of the cars settings are set through the factory sterio, is there any way to adjust the settings without the factory sterio. 3. the change oil and low tire pressure readouts stay on in the information center, is there a way to reset those? the oil has been changed and the tires pressured to 45 psi that about covers it for the moment, thanks in advance for any help |

Re: several questions
I do believe all your problems will be fixed if you put a factory stereo back in. I have a 2002 Dale Earnhart edition monte with aftermarket stereo. I have the same problem. As for the other buttons on the keyless entry, security alarm/panic button, maybe. does your keyless entry work without the factory stereo? I can't use my keyless entry or reset "low tire pressure" light. I priced a factory stereo at my local Advanced Auto. It ranged from $160-$290, if I remember right. I asked a Ford dealer these same questions and I got bad news. Can't use remote and can't reset light. Now, someone told me that if I unhooked the attery for some time it would reset itself, but haven't tried it. I'm just going to put the factory stereo back in.

Re: several questions
try turning the key to on and stabbing the throttle 3 times quickly, this should clear youre oil change light.

Re: several questions
There is an after market stereo that will work similar to the Monte's factory stereo giving you control of sensor resets. It retails for $600. A new factory stereo from GM chevrolet goes for $800. You would almost be better off finding a used Monte Carlo stereo from a salvage yard. It would a lot less expensive.

Re: several questions
I just bought a 2002 Monte Carlo SS and the low tire pressure light was on. Guy I bought it from unhooked the battery and when he hooked it back up it had reset. As far as change oil light, I'm not sure, should tell you how to do it in your owners manual, which I didn't get with mine, so if you figure it out, please share.

Re: several questions
Here is how to reset the "Change Engine Oil" message if you do not have the stereo interface. This is from the 2002 Monte Carlo SS Owners manuel.
Step 1. Turn the ignition to ON, with the engine off. Step 2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the Change Engine Oil message flashes, the system is reset. However, if it stays on, it did not reset. You'll need to repeat the reset procedure. To reset the Low Tire Pressure without interface: The tire inflation monitor system can be reset by turning the exterior lamp control from OFF to parking lamps three times while the ignition is ON. I hope this helps. |
