2000 Impala LS A/C Fan Problem

sometimes the fan will quick while driving. not sure if the compressor goes off also. sometimes on start up the fan will not come on and then while driving it comes on by itself. doesn't matter what speed or recycle air, whatever. When it is out the A/C switch lights are out. Also, the over head temp and compass display goes out at the same time. Also the cruise goes off at the same time.
I have cleaned the grounds on the drivers side radiator support and the one on the frame on the battery side. No luck.
I'm thinking weak connection (connector, relay socket, maybe intermittant relay) but don't know where they are. don't have wiring schematic.
appreciate any help. thanks jim

Re: 2000 Impala LS A/C Fan Problem

try the chiltons repair manual for schematics.

Also check the fuse for partially blown, loose or corrosion.

Are all of those problems on the same fuse?

Lightbulb Re: 2000 Impala LS A/C Fan Problem

I have the same issue in my 2004. Being a chevy owner since birth I know the tricks of the breed. The electrical in this car really seems to suck.

when it goes out, give it a open handed smack to the right side of the glove box door, with the air turned on and VOILA!! you'll have air.

there are 2 fuze boxes in this car, one on driver, one on passenger. the passenger seems to always have a loose wire or something from what I have been reading on the forums.

good luck brutha....

Re: 2000 Impala LS A/C Fan Problem

needs ignition switch, contacts in switch burnt causing poor connection, causing power loss on that circuit
