327 not ideling or running right
got a mild 69 327, been running fine for a year. All of a sudden today it wont idle and runs real rough from idle to 2000 rpm. After 2000 rpm it runs fine, but it missfires and pops a little under 2k. I have a edelbrock 600 cfm carb with electric choke. thanks

Re: 327 not ideling or running right
I'd start with the easy stuff, especially the fuel filter, check for pump diaphraghm debris.
Also check the advance on the distributer and read the plugs. Last edited by wrightz28; 06-27-2007 at 12:33 PM. |

Re: 327 not ideling or running right
My grandpas car did that, but his problem was sorta obvious though, the gas tank had dirt in it, so he cleaned that out, new fuel filter and gas line and it ran fine. Id say check the fuel filter.

Re: 327 not ideling or running right
checked plugs today perfect, fuel filter i checked a week ago, timing perfect, and I did all the other easy stuff. Then I figured vacuum leak. None around carb, but then i remembered there is a line that goes from back of carb to break booster for vacuum for brakes. I have a brake line leak and had no brake fluid. Put break fluid in. Drove it, and it seems good now.

Re: 327 not ideling or running right
if your refering to the brakes, its leaking where i connected the old line with the new line i put in when the brake line blew. I dont know what a check valve is.

Re: 327 not ideling or running right
There should be a one way check valve on the booster. You're porbably right on with running the system low causing the problem.
