Re: Trouble Code
2002 Ford Explorer, 6 cylinder, the Air bag light has been coming on for some time but don't know what exactly is the problem. I know the Stealership will fix it, but they are so expensive. Any help is appreiciated. TIA

I don't believe the P codes go that high (last one I see is a P1900) so I'll assume with the information re: air bag light, this is a B2292. With that assumption, the service manual states the code is a driver's side seat belt pretensioner circuit fault. -Rod |

Re: Trouble Code
Hey Rod, Yes the code was B2292. I am not an expert by any means. Just your basic do it yourself guy. Not sure what the seat belt pretensioner circuit fault is or where it's at. Can you give me some more information on this? Maybe a link or a picture if you have one accessible. Is it something I can do or will a professional be needed? I really appreciate your help.
Thanks again, Eddie |

Re: Trouble Code
If you would send me a private message with an e-mail address for you that can accept PDF attachments, I can send you the diagnostic procedure and some diagrams.

Re: Trouble Code
All that means is that it's not a generic code common to all OBD-II systems, but rather it's a code that may have a different definition between the different manufacturers.
A code such as P0123 would be a generic OBD-II powertrain code. The generic codes are designated by a '0' in the thousands place. If that '0' is something other than zero (ie: P1123) then it is a manufacturer specific code. That being said, the definition I provided you in post #4 is still accurate as I pulled the information from the Manufacturer's service manual. -Rod |
