99 Jetta OBD2 reader location

I cannot see the connector where to read the codes from. It is suppose to be under the dash driver side. Advice welcome. Jetta Wolfsburg Edition

Newer body style or old (Mark III or IV).

Mark IV is under the dash, where your left knee would be. It is purple in colour.

Mark III (on my Cabrio) is below the cigarette lighter. Just pop off the plastic cover.

Thanks frostie, It was above the cigar lighter... and it had the check engine logo embossed on it...duhhh. Glad to see that the VW uses OBD II technology at least. They have been a pain in trying to service the trany.
Now I've got code P411(insufficient flow) to resolve.
