89 olds 98 problems when driving

i have this 1989 olds 98 still and have replaced the fuel pump, fuel fitler, fuel pressure regulator, tps, coil pack, icm, ecm, plugs, plug wires. but still when im start it i get in and drive it around 2 blocks and when i press the accelerator at the stop sign the car will bog down and sometimes die. the codes it gave me where 21,22, 34 which the book said are grounded or open circuit in the map sensor, grouned or open circuit in the tps, and bad map sensor but my car does not have a map sensor. but when i put in the new tps for one day the car ran ok act up a little here and there but no check engine light i changed the oil that day and parked it but when i went out to check it the next day same prob with the same codes could it be the idler control sensor or any other ideas please help
thank you

Have you done any diagnosing here? The 34 is the MAF sensor in the air duct, common problem on these cars. Disconnect it and see if the symptoms change.

Check for 5v reference to the tps, ground and output form the tps. If you are unfamiliar with this process, go to autozone.com repair guides for the basics.

Re: 89 olds 98 problems when driving

ok i found out that the tps plug was half way melted so i replaced it and now im only getting a 22 and i did the 5v reference with the voltmeter and it was at exactly 5.0 so could the bad plug have ruined the tps??

Don't you have adjust the TPS to read between .45 & .5 with the throttle closed?

Re: 89 olds 98 problems when driving

You can still put a meter on the sensor & check for the 1/2 volt reading.
