vr4 motor oil
i live by mobile one full syn and i always use oem oil filters, what weight do you guys suggest and what do you guys use on your cars.

i've herd from 10w-30,10w-40, and 15w-50

depends on your car.. stock vr4.. run 10 30... if you have mods and want a little more protection.. run some 10 40... if you have lots of mods.. maybe bigger turbos.. higher boost run some 20 50.... things to keep in mind.. if you didnt have lifter tick before and you add 20 50 and it starts making noise.. then its to thick.. the oil pin holes on the lifters are small on our cars... 91-98 anyway..

I use nothing but 20W-50 in the SL and the VR4, always have...it's what the book calls for.

mobil 1 15W-50.
but honestly it depends on how and in what weather you drive your car. There is a link in the FAQs that will tell you all about it. Basically, the larger the range between the 2 numbers, the more versitile the protection. Which means a 5W-50 oil will flow quickly on cold start to lubricate everything, and will have a thick layer of protective coating when warm. The downside of something like that is that it breaks down faster, so youll need to keep up on changing it, and its expensive. |
