Overdrive Slipping

Just picked up a nice '88 Grand Marquis LS today. It's been taken just about perfect care of and all, owned by trusted mechanics.

Anyway, I noticed that in overdrive, the transmission would slip a bit. I've been told that this is common among late 80's model Fords. Anyone know anything about it?

It's a 5.0 Liter EFI if that helps.

Could you give me a little more detail than that? I may take it to our local mechanic, and work with him to fix it.

Re: Overdrive Slipping

Pardon my lack of knowledge in regards to automatic transmissions, but would that fix the overdrive not working at all? Took it out on the road today, got up to 60 and shifted into overdrive. Just spun, spun, and spun some more.
