96 continental radio doesn't work

Just bought a 1996 lincoln continental and the radio doesn't work. It is a jbl am/fm cassette with cd controls but no cd unit. Fuses under dash and hood are ok. It looks like the same unit as in the manuel "digital luxury audio system" but when i pulled the radio out of dash it was marked "96 ford explorer". Was told this could be wrong unit for this car even though the radio and harness plugs match up ok. Saw similar problem posted for 97 continental and towncar advised to check rear amp fuse, could this be same problem with mine. How do i get to this fuse, thru the trunk? Any suggestions are welcomed. Thank You. tommyboo...

Re: 96 continental radio doesn't work

I just bought a 94 continental and had a simular problem...............you have test the Cd/tape player by taking a good working speaker and connect it and see what happen.............. You make have to rewirer you speakers front and back if it is not the cd/tape player
